It stressed that such efforts would help towards opening up wider fields for cooperation between the African Union and the European Union through Libya – being the northern gate of Africa, the agency added.

Malta’s support was expressed by Foreign and Investment Development Minister John Dalli during his meeting with the Secretary of Foreign Affairs at the Libyan General People’s Congress on Sunday evening.

The meeting also dwelt on cooperation between the General People’s Congress and the Maltese parliament, support of existing cooperation between Libya and Malta after joining the European Union and preparations for the meeting of Speakers of West Mediterranean parliaments due to be held this year in France, as well as coordination of stances between the General People’s Congress in Libya and the Maltese Parliament at International fora.
