60 Second Interview - Jonathan Mohnani

Malta Independent Sunday, 4 July 2004, 00:00 Last update: about 13 years ago

n How old are you? Star sign and date of birth?

28, Leo (absolutely Fab), 4 August 1975

n Significant other? Children?

Dad is from North of India, and Mum is from Centre of Malta. My big bro is 30, his lovely wife, and has three adorable children – Rebecca, Karl and Lara.

n What would you like to be doing in 10 years’ time?

Singing, singing and more singing… need I elaborate? As long as I’m performing live, whether on an opera stage, musical theatre, concert arena or on the airwaves, it really

doesn’t matter.

n What is your idea of perfect happiness?

Wouldn’t it be loverly to have the goals I strive for become reality? But then some say that once you achieve them, you’d strive for new ones – so I guess this is never ending.

n What is your favourite occupation?

I luv the caring profession which is why I’m a doctor (and that is what it is supposed to be!), I luv the adrenaline on stage which is why I’m an entertainer. Though, I’ve never driven an

ambulance – I guess, I’d be just as happy doing that!

n What is your greatest fear?

Impotence – no joking apart… missed

opportunities – I wouldn’t want to look back and have regrets.

n What is it that you most value in your friends?

There are several good points in my three musketeers – Rosette, Elgar and Ignatius. If I must, I would say that I can trust them to support me, defend me, understand me and always be there for me in every situation. Together we highlight each others lives.

n How would you like to die?

Definately not suffocated, not burnt and not in bed buddy. During a performance would be a divine exit!

n What is your greatest extravagance?

Roaming the world for multicultural partying.

n What is your greatest regret?

I’m still driving the same car I drove 10 years ago.

n What is your most treasured

possession?

Image Is Everything – get it?

n Which talent would you most like to have apart from the ones you already have?

I would luv to be a freaky jazz pianist.

n What do you regard as the lowest depth of misery?

Believing that one’s life is worthless.

Where would you like to live?

London is fine, minus the stress, and the high cost of living – all because cultures converge, music flourishes, opportunities soar and entertainment rules.

What is your most marked characteristic?

Physically possibly my almond shaped eyes, genetically my Maltese/Indian DNA, personality my buzzed side, emotionally my understanding nature…In general I am THE SINGING DOCTOR.

Who are your heroes/heroines in real life?

People who get off their butts to make a difference.

What is it that you most dislike?

The 2 Za’s – l’injoranza u l’arroganza! I can’t stand people who’ve never discovered they can actually use their common sense, or those who are disrespectful to their fellow man.

What is your motto?

Live and Let Live, Tindahalx u Tiggudikax.
