The GWU said the government took the decision to introduce this tax without consulting the trade unions. “The government is taking decisions that burden workers and pensioners and peck at the purchasing power of wages and pensions,” the union said in a statement.
The union said the strict measures the government is taking on a national level put workers in a tight spot. Workers are being asked to make many
sacrifices, said the GWU.
