Man Admits stealing from cars

Malta Independent Wednesday, 28 July 2004, 00:00 Last update: about 15 years ago

Allan Grima, 21, from Cospicua, stole Hi-Fi apparatus, cash and other items from three cars between November 2003 and July. He damaged the cars in the process and also stole cash and other items from a woman in Birzebbuga.

He committed fraud in November 2003 and attempted a theft that did not succeed in July. Grima also drove a car recklessly, without its owner’s permission and at an excessive speed while his license was suspended.

He also admitted receiving stolen goods and relapsing in view of previous convictions.

The prosecution said Grima had a three-year drug problem and although a prison sentence would be adequate, the court must order him to attend a rehabilitation programme.

Judgement will be handed down on Monday.

Inspectors Noel Cutajar and Anthony Portelli prosecuted while Magistrate Anthony Vella presided over the court.
