Raman Yu Lei, 34 from Sliema, was accused of using false names to defraud two Chinese people and the Bank of Valletta out of E2,000 and $2,700.
Inspectors Joseph Cordina and Carmel Abdilla prosecuted while Dr Kris Busietta and Dr Jason Azzopardi appeared for the accused.
Magistrate Silvio Meli presided over the court.
