Speaking during the opening of a high-level meeting of ambassadors, Foreign Minister Michael Frendo said this new reality had to be the most important item on the agenda because this discussion had to lead to the country’s strategic objectives. He said this exercise would not end at the conclusion of this high-level meeting, but would continue in order that the foreign policy will lead to economic, political, social and cultural improvements.
Through its Mediterranean foreign policy, Malta increases its relevance within the European Union while its EU membership increases Malta’s relevance as a strategic country in the Mediterranean Sea.
Dr Frendo said Malta’s ambassadors were the first people to contribute towards the country’s foreign policy.
