The 30-metre boat Europa M, carrying a crew of six was initially noted fishing about 18.5 nautical miles to the north west of Gozo, however when finally boarded and searched by an AFM party it was located about 20.8 nautical miles from Malta.
The crew and boat were escorted to the Grand Harbour and berthed in close proximity to the Fisheries Department at around 4am. The police were informed and an investigation was launched.
