Residents telephoned The Malta Independent to complain that this was not the first time that this has happened. “Every summer we have this problem when foreign students come over to Malta to learn English,” a resident said.

Another added that the students, probably Italian, “kicked off car mirrors, walked over car roofs and bonnets all the way up the road and scratched some of the vehicles, too.”

Others reported that students use doorsteps for the natural needs, ring doorbells at ungodly hours, sing and scream while walking back to their hotel and some have also been seen breaking traffic signs.

Another resident said that his car tyres have been ripped and some students throw bottles onto balconies.

It is known that a report about the matter has been lodged at St Julian’s police station.
