In a statement, the division said it had received several complaints yesterday morning that even the prices of breadrolls and ftajjar had been increased. The division carried out the necessary investigations and found out that the complaints were justified.

The division thus ordered the bakers to stop the abuse immediately. The Association of Bakers also informed its members not to impose the increase on products on which there had been no agreement.

The 1c increase on small and large loaves was authorised as from yesterday in view of the rise in the price of wheat. Some bakers also added an extra cent to breadrolls and ftajjar until they were stopped.
