Alfred Farrugia, 40, pleaded not guilty to attempting to seriously injure Joseph Bartolo by shooting at him on 5 August in Marsa.
He was also accused of firing shots in a built-up area, having a firearm in his possession without the necessary permits issued by the police and breaching the peace.
The court, presided over by magistrate Consuelo Scerri Herrera, set bail against a deposit of Lm100 and a personal guarantee of Lm2,000. Police inspector Roland Cassar prosecuted.
