Floriana Cannot afford another slip today

Malta Independent Friday, 17 December 2004, 00:00 Last update: about 11 years ago

Floriana cannot afford another slip today in their battle for a top six placing as they face bottom-placed St Patrick (kick-off 8pm).

It is a match quite similar to that of last week against Lija, when the Athletic surprisingly held the Greens to a 1-1 draw.

Those missed points saw Floriana dropping one place in the standings, as Hibs defeated Marsaxlokk on Sunday to overtake them in the standings.

And with Pieta, Msida and Marsaxlokk breathing down their necks, they will be on full alert to try and avoid another slip this evening.

On the other hand, St Patrick will be eager to try and regain their composure after having seen their two-match positive run ended by Pieta in a heavy 5-0 defeat last Sunday.

Before this evening’s Premier match, Balzan will be meeting Marsa at 6pm. The match had to be played last Sunday morning, but was postponed.
