Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho will not be selling Joe Cole.

The 23-year-old has been frustrated by a lack of first-team opportunities at Stamford Bridge and Tottenham striker Jermain Defoe urged Spurs to sign him.

But Mourinho has quoted by the Independent: “He wants to stay, is ready to fight for a place here and that’s the same feeling that I have.

“We had a conversation and I said: ‘No chance of leaving. Don’t think about it because I need everybody’.”

Cole, who moved to the Blues for £6.6m in August 2003, has not started a Premiership game since October.
