Wool Over people’s eyes

Malta Independent Friday, 31 December 2004, 00:00 Last update: about 11 years ago

Please allow me a chance to make a honest point or two, that is if we still have a democracy. Let us be honest and stop pulling the wool over the people’s eyes.

We have been singing the praises of HSBC Bank. What charities they help is tax deductible, they have made a good profit and so has BOV. I suggest a one per cent rise in interest rates, to the saver who keeps the banks in profit.

Even better, let us ask some building societies from the UK to come over. A little lively competition is a good thing, as I fear the banks are getting too big for their boots.

Another thing, businessmen charge what they like. It’s one big rip-off.

On the EU, why is it that the PN and MIC do not say how it really is? I refer to an item in The Sunday Mirror which shows that corruption in the EU is still rife.

One more point: where is the Lm100 million Malta was getting? Can MIC tell us how much Malta will have to pay per year to the EU?
