We refer to the article Odds & Ends (TMID, 3 January). In this article there is a photo that was taken in Wied ta’ Zejta, in between Xaghra and Victoria, where some rubbish was dumped.
We would like to inform you that on 24 December, 2004, this area was cleaned by Xaghra local council. It is important to note that il-Wied ta’ Zejta is under the responsibility of Victoria local council.
However, Xaghra local council was doing some reconstruction work at the nearby tas-Sellum Road and since the necessary machinery was on site, I took the initiative to clean up this part of the valley.
We have included some photographs taken after the clean-up.
It is true that these sights are common in Malta and Gozo but, as you may note, someone is taking action.
We hope you will publish these photos to encourage more people and entities to take similar action.
