HSBC’s employees have raised funds for the victims of the tsunami in southeast Asia during a Dress Down Day.
The money raised by the staff formed part of HSBC’s Lm5,000 contribution presented during the l-Istrina programme held specifically for the tsunami victims.
HSBC Malta’s Dress Down Day formed part of a worldwide effort by HSBC Group to assist those affected following the
catastrophic events which took place in southeast Asia on 26 December.
HSBC has already committed $2 million to the relief effort, including a $1 million donation to the International Committee of the Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies and the
establishment of a $1 million fund which will be used to match donations given by HSBC employees around the globe.
“HSBC’s employees around the world have responded magnificently to the bank’s appeal to raise funds for the millions of people affected by the tsunami disaster. Malta has been no exception. Not only have employees helped to raise Lm5,000, but many employees have also taken individual initiatives to donate both money and other items.
“HSBC will continue to
support these efforts and to encourage all Maltese to do what they can to help,” said HSBC’s head of marketing and communications, Godfrey Swain.
