With reference to the article “Law on Children’s Rights being updated” on the presentation of the annual report of work of the Council for Children (TMID 11 January), I would like to point out the following:

• The report presented was the report of activities of the Council for Children, which was set up to assist the Commissioner for Children. One may refer to the brief of the Council for Children in Articles 12 and 13 of the Commissioner for Children Act.

• In Malta we do not have a Children Act. Four years ago Dr Ruth Farrugia was commissioned by the government to draft a Children Act which was not, however, enacted. This original draft now needs updating.
