Two executive bankers from the top ranking bank in Sudan were recently in Malta for a week’s tuition as part of a training programme FIMBank has set-up to train bankers from FIMBank’s downstream correspondent banking network.
The programme provided the participants with exposure to Internal Payments, Bills, Collections, Guarantees and Trade Finance related products including Letters of Credit and Forfaiting.
The delegates also attended a business English language course at one of the local English language schools.
FIMBank has always played an active role in the training of its downstream correspondent bankers and is currently working on the programme for this year’s international conference being held in April, when over 40 delegates from financial institutions forming part of FIMBank’s network of correspondent banks in Africa, Europe, Asia, the Middle East and the Americas will attend.
The participants from over 20 countries will be meeting in Malta to participate in workgroups and discussions in support of the development of international trade. This conference is widely considered as an opportunity for experts in this field to discuss and exchange ideas on trade finance and international banking.
This annual event in Malta’s financial calendar is organised in cooperation with the Malta Financial Services Authority.
The bank’s success is solidly based on strong interpersonal relations with its banking correspondent network. The specialised training programmes and conferences consolidate the relations the bank has with the participants and their financial institutions.
