The Labour Opposition is also worried with the current situation of local sport where a dispute involving the Ministry of Eduation and the Council for Maltese Sport, on one side, and the Malta Olympic Committee, on the other, is making most of the headlines.

In a statement over the signature of Carmelo Abela and Justyne Caruana, the party’s spokesman and spokeswoman on the subject, it has urged the government to intervene to find a solution which will see our country fulfilling its obligations in the sports field.

The Party said it was seeking separate meetings with the Maltese Council for Sport and the Malta Olympic Committee to try and help finding a solution to the impasse.
