Many moons ago a note was forwarded to the local bank managers’ directors (and, if I remember correctly, copied to the Commissioner of Police) on the subject of bank security.
It pointed out that the present customary location of the bank security guard is not the ideal position.
The guards are pleasant, helpful and polite in opening and closing the door for customers but are themselves still sitting ducks and easy targets for would-be robbers.
The suggested solution is that the guard should be located where they oversee all who come in and observe all who are already within the bank premises, while they themselves should be safe, secure and unseen.
