Malta Independent Monday, 7 February 2005, 00:00 Last update: about 13 years ago

HSBC Bank Malta plc has presented awards to the Lascaris Wharf, Valletta and Victoria,Gozo branches which came out on top in customer service surveys in 2004. Awards were also presented for the best area, which went to Valletta, and for the best head office department, won by the Compliance Unit.

Every quarter, HSBC presents customer service awards to the best branches, area and department. The branch awards, which are based solely on feedback from HSBC customers, are divided into two categories depending on the size and volume of business carried out at the particular branch. Lascaris Wharf, Valletta and Victoria, Gozo, also won first place in the awards for the best customer service over the last quarter of 2004, with Floriana and Merchants’ Street, Valletta, being placed second respectively.

“Continued success for HSBC depends on the customer being at the centre of everything we do. Customer service satisfaction rates in 2004 were very high across the whole HSBC branch network and I must congratulate everyone for all their hard work. Clearly, our employees at Lascaris Wharf and Victoria, as well as those at Merchants’ Street and Floriana, have performed exceptionally well and fully deserve to receive these awards,” said HSBC chief executive officer Shaun Wallis.

The best department awards are based on feedback from HSBC employees, who nominate the departments which offer them the best assistance and service internally. The Compliance Unit won both the 2004 annual award as well as the final quarter award, with the Human Resources and Training Department coming second over the whole year and Shareshop coming second in the latest quarterly awards.

“Without the right support, our branches would not be in a position to offer the high level of service that our customers rightly expect. The departmental awards, therefore, are extremely important and I would particularly like to thank Compliance for all the support they have given to HSBC’s front line staff over the past twelve months. I am certain that all departments will continue to do their utmost in the months ahead,” Mr Wallis concluded.
