Today’s Under 21 Friendly

Malta Independent Tuesday, 8 February 2005, 00:00 Last update: about 12 years ago

Mark Miller will only announce his line-up today

National Under 21 coach Mark Miller has not announced his line-up for today’s prestigious friendly against Norway at the Hibs Ground (kick-off 2pm).

He said yesterday all the 18 players in his group were keen on playing and he had not yet made his final decision. “They have all been doing well even in the League with their clubs apart from the recent friendly against the Italian Under 20 side.

“Yet this is a different match as the Norwegians are robust and strong. They will pose several problems for us and we have to be disciplined – and lucky – as we were against the Italians if we are to be successful once again. It is a massive match for us, but we have to go on without our programme.

“This match and another against the Turkish Under 20 side next month, are very important for us,” he said.

For the record, Miller had started with the following formation in the impressive performance in the 3-1 win over Italy Under 20:

R. Gauci, A. Muscat, S. Bajada, R. Mintoff, S. Tellus, G. Sciberras, T. Cilia, C. Cassar, A. Schembri, C. Frendo, M. Brincat.

Miller’s squad for today’s match:

Goalkeepers: Reuben Gauci, Andrew Hogg.

Defenders: Josef Mifsud, Ryan Mintoff, Alex Muscat, Karl Sammut, Shaun Tellus.

Midfielders: Andrei Agius, Roderick Bajada, Shaun Bajada, Mauro Brincat, Christian Cassar, Paul Fenech, Cleaven Frendo, Gareth Sciberras.

Strikers: Trevor Cilia, Terrence Scerri, Andre Schembri.
