Reference is made to the photographs and corresponding letter published (TMID 24 January), outlining the fact that an elegant decorative central-hanging street-light was replaced by “an appalling and plain-looking bulb in a plastic case”.

Contrary to what was stated and implied by your correspondent, this particular street-light has not been removed and replaced by Enemalta. Responsibility

for the maintenance of wall-mounted and central-hanging street-lights in this locality (phase 1) was devolved to the Balzan local council on 28 March 2003.
