Miranda Publishers’ 15th Anniversary exhibition

Malta Independent Saturday, 19 February 2005, 00:00 Last update: about 12 years ago

To mark its 15th anniversary, Miranda Publishers is holding an exhibition of all its publications which will give visitors a unique, one-off opportunity to browse through and purchase these limited edition coffee-table books that contain stunning photographs of Malta and Gozo and their rich history and cultural heritage.

The exhibition is being held at the old Gasan showroom in Pieta and it will run from today until 4 March.

The exhibition will be open from 10am to 8pm every day. Most of the books are being offered at advantageous prices of up to 50 per cent discount.

Visitors will also be able to browse through the latest addition to the Miranda collection: Welcome Malta to Europe, celebrating Malta’s European Union membership. Miranda Publishers’ director Eddie Aquilina said that, like the other publications in the popular 360-degree series, only 3,000 numbered copies of Welcome Malta to Europe have been published and the book, which is a collector’s item, will never be printed again.

Mr Aquilina said this book is a unique photographic journey of the spectacular events celebrating Malta’s EU accession, a historical event for Malta and the European Union.

The book also contains photographs of events which led to Malta’s EU accession on 1 May 2004, including photographs of the then Prime Minister George Borg Olivier signing the first accession agreement with the European Economic Community, as the EU was known as at the time. It also contains photographs of the then Deputy Prime Minister Guido de Marco filing Malta’s original application to join the EU in 1990.

Asked what the company had in the pipeline for the future, Mr Aquilina said that this year it will publish the second volume of Underground Malta 360°.

Other planned publications which will be published within the next three years, include Underwater Malta 360°, World Heritage Sites in Malta 360°, Temples in Malta 360°, Museums in Malta 360°, Fortresses in Malta 360° and Knights of Malta 360°.

Mr Aquilina said that feedback has been very good so far and he expressed the hope that people would not miss this one-time opportunity to obtain their collector’s books for a slashed price.

He said the books may be viewed on the company’s online bookstore at www.mirandabooks.com
