Dear Prime Minister…

Malta Independent Tuesday, 22 February 2005, 00:00 Last update: about 12 years ago

The fact that at this point in time your party has embarked on a larger campaign than usual of misinformation to degrade the Leader of the Opposition even further than necessary is sheer illumination that your once massive party is in a state of agony, like the dying embers of a raging fire.

Your back is against the wall and the animosity shown by your parliamentarians clearly states that your party is on the verge of destroying itself. Your very own supporters who helped enthrone you as the man at the helm thought that with the winds of change things were going to become better. Oh, the anti-climax of it all!

Unfortunately for you, the contrary happened because you yourself caused insurmountable chaos and your popularity is decreasing with every second that passes by. I am sure that everybody is party to making sacrifices that might improve his position but when one realises that these are fruitless, that his country and his position is going to the dogs, then one is prone to get into a state of anxiety and panic.

This, dear Prime Minister, is all due to your way of running the country. Thousands of people, especially those classified as the lower class, are in a dilemma because of your inability in solving their problems – problems, may I add, that you burdened them with. You do not want to admit that nearly all the Maltese are suffering the aftermath of the false hopes you gave them.

I would have expected more from a former leader of a Catholic movement. You were elected Prime Minister under false pretences, falsely stating dreams you knew you would never be able to make come true. You and only you are guilty of the disarray that many people are going through. The situation is now even out of your control.

The indecent faux pas you made concerning the councils election at Zejtun and Marsa is indication enough that your star is going downhill. Rest assured that the voice of the people will be heard, come March. You yourself know this already, thus your strategy to remove the Zejtun and Marsa population from voting.

An intelligent person like you should know that you can fool most people all the time but you cannot fool all the people all the time. The patience of the people, your supporters included, has its limits.

Dear Prime Minister, your actions have proved that after only a few months since your promotion, you have outstayed your welcome.

Valerie Borg

MLP Councillor
