From Mr S. Cachia
I noted with pleasure the letter sent by Daniela Borg Mizzi, manager, Public Relations and Marketing, Malta Transport Authority in reply to a letter entitled “For the Ministry concerned” by G. Bezzina (TMIS, 20 February).
I sighed and said at long last. I happen to live in the mentioned area, precisely Triq il-Lampuka. Our street was not included in the list given by Ms Borg Mizzi, but as some of the roads to be built lead to where I live will undoubtedly ease the great inconvenience I have to put up with to reach my residence.
I hope that when car owners who live in Triq il-Lampuka take their cars for the Vehicle Road Test, the fact that Triq il-Lampuka is not yet properly built is taken into consideration.
In the meantime, I thank Ms Borg Mizzi for making the much-awaited information available regarding the priority being given to unmade roads. Is such information readily available to the local council?
Triq il-Lampuka unluckily is featured in a case before the Magistrate Courts. There is a legal battle going on over the field facing the houses where we live, which seems to be never-ending. In fact the format of the street resembles a sort of funnel and is actually divided into two parts; one part is reached from Triq in-Nadur and the other from Triq il-Qaliet. Sometimes I wonder whether I will be privileged to make my last trip to heaven or hell on a decent road, when the Almighty decides it is time for me to go. I am rather pessimistic, as I envisage that it will take ages for the case to be decided and wonder when Triq il-Lampuka will no longer be an unmade road. In the meantime, please relieve us of the many puddles that form even with the slightest trickle of rain, especially in the part where a skip is placed for our convenience.
If Ms Borg Mizzi has some information and could tell us when it is Triq il-Lampuka's turn, I would really be grateful.
Finally, I was disappointed that Triq l-Ghassies, which has buildings on both sides of the road, was not on the list. Ms Borg Mizzi, more information about the roads in the area would really be helpful.
