It is desirable, indeed highly advisable, that the responsible authorities ensure that the zebra markings of pedestrian crossings should be repainted as frequently as is needed.
This is to make doubly certain that the road markings are sharply clear and easily visible at all times.
With the present ever-increasing volume of traffic on the roads and pedestrians (especially the slow and elderly, the mothers with prams and shopping as well as easily distracted children) crossing roads and streets at right angles to each other, traffic incidents and accidents are waiting to happen and happen they do.
It should be the aim of the authorities to increase the odds against these traffic accidents taking place, so as to avoid preventable loss of limb and possibly life.
