Allowing Charles Demicoli’s facts to be correct, which I actually doubt (“Years of Terror”, TMID 2 March) lest he forget, does he remember the 1960s when his party used the Church as an instrument to hit at the Labour Party? Does he remember the atrocious incidents at Tal-Barrani and the brutal murder of Karen Grech? Does he remember vindictive transfers given to people who would not say boo to a goose but had the “misfortune” to be Labourites?
Does he remember the time when a Labour newspaper was “taboo” in any governmental department?
Even if Mr Demicoli was right, since when did two wrongs make a right? Again, lest Mr Demicoli forget, Dr Alfred Sant was not the man at the helm during what he considered the years of terror but, alas, during this year of Lawrence Gonzi’s prime ministership we are being witness to an arrogant government all in the name of “progress”. Please do not try to justify Dr Gonzi’s disgusting manoeuvre by recalling past (very past) history.
