The Div I results favoured leaders Aercomms, who were 8 - 0 winners against league losers The Rascals in week nine of the current Middlesea Valletta National League being played at the Eden SuperBowl, St. Julians.

That allowed them to stretch their advantage to eleven points as closest rivals Fina Excel dropped two points in their win over Alley Catz (9th). Ramis and Globalair Travel are still tied in third place, both having scooped full point victories over the Blues Brothers and Storm respectively. There was also a 100% win, as well as the best series of the week, for Fina First (5th) against tenth placed Royal Shock.

Aercomms could be forgiven for being confident of a big win against The Rascals in week nine, the two sides currently occupying the opposite extremities of the top flight, but it wasn't all plain sailing for the top team. The luck was with Aercomms in game one which they won by 34 pins (747 - 713), and The Rascals could easily have walked off with a quarter share of the points in game two, which they lost by a mere five pins, 752 - 747).

A draw was still a real possibility for The Rascals, but Aerecomms had other plans as they steamrolled over their opponents with an easy 844 - 761 win in the last of the series.

Aercomms' Kenneth Arpa has hit form of late, and produced an excellent 693 series (219 - 237 - 237), and Lawrence Bonnici took a 569 for The Rascals.

Fina First stay second in spite of losing a poor opening game in their match against Alley Catz (6 - 2), two points ahead of Ramis and Globalair Travel.

Game one went to Alley Catz with a 674 - 682 score line, but Fina Excel were quick to level things with a 756 - 677 equalizer in game two. Excel held the pin advantage going into game three, which they also won 726 - 701 to make sure of the majority victory.

Brian Farrugia bowled a 564 set for the winners, while there was a 538 for Alley Catz's Rankin Camilleri.

There were a pair of 0 - 8 wins for Ramis and Globalair Travel, the pair sharing third place this week. The first went to Ramis against the Blue Brothers (11th), starting with a close 706 - 721 result in game one and then a 682 - 713 win in game two.

Game three was the highest scoring, and also the closest of the series, going to Ramis by just three pins (758 - 761) to complete the whitewash. Charles Farrugia shot a 553 for the winners, and Blues Brothers' top brother was Sammy Borg on a 551.

Globalair Travel's win came against eighth placed Storm and the victors were easily the better side, particularly over the first two games. The opener fell to Globalair 694 - 758, and the second finished 680 - 745. Game three was a little closer but Storm didn't worry their adversaries, who won it by 32 pins (722 - 754) to clinch the 0 - 8 match win.

David Debono played a 561 set for Globalair Travel, and a 542 from Martin Deguara was the best from a poor Storm performance.

Fifth placed Fina First also took all eight points in week nine, along with a high 2368 team series, with Royal Shock finishing on the losjng side.

Fina First faced no serious challenge from their opponents, winning game one 718 - 669 before rolling a big 822 against Royal Shock's 733 in game two. Fina's best was yet to come as they won game three 828 - 724 to seal their impressive win.

Mauro Anastasi took a 605 series for Fina First, and Clive Farrugia managed a 528 for Royal Shock.

The last win of the week went to Veltins (6th), who came out on the better side of a 2 - 6 score line against neighbours Right Deal (7th). Right Deal bowled a very low 649 in game one, way short of the 696 winner from Veltins.

Both were better in game two which ended 770 - 796 in Veltins' favour, and Right Deal clinched their two points by winning the third 844 - 814. Veltins were 43 pins better on the series (2263 - 2306), with Sue Abela shooting a 600, while Melissa Camenzuli took a 573 for Right Deal.
