Luxol duly registered their third league victory over bottom club Siggiewi, as they consolidated their third spot in the standings. It was an open game as the treys rained in from both sides. There was no doubt about the Violets’ success, as they lead from start to finish
Luxol were missing two players for this match, Robert Azzopardi and Beppe Micallef Trigona.
Siggiewi kept pace at the start of the match as they had John Doughty’s trey for a five-six result. Luxol then took the game in hand and an 11-0 run with a Steve Schembri trey gave them the game’s first first lead.
The violets than kept on till the end of the session but Doughty scored the second trey for Siggiewi, who were still trailing 11-27 after the first quarter.
In the second session Luxol kept up with their pressure as they extended their lead but Siggiewi came back after some time.
It was not long before Luxol through Ruben Dalli’s brace of treys halped them on to a 10-0 run. Siggiewi’s reaction resulted in a good ending to the session, as Luxol led 49-26 at the interval.
After the break Luxol’s superiority was more pronounced as they first notched up an 11-2 run and then soon after another 12-3 break, as Steve Schembri kept his string of treys.
Siggiewi rallied at the end with a good run of play although they ewer hit by Dirk Schembri’s couple of treys. After three sessions it was Luxol at 81-42.
In the last quarter Luxol did not let up as they held Siggiewi under control. With such a high score they went for the century and Siggiewi replied as best they could. Silvio Cassar obtained Luxol’s 100 and followed up with a trey, as both sides enghanced their score till the end.
