Malta Independent Sunday, 20 March 2005, 00:00 Last update: about 12 years ago

BUPA Agencies, a member of The Global Group, recently organised another successful and well-attended BUPA medical talk at The Global Group corporate offices.

The aim of this series of talks is to promote healthy living and create a greater awareness of health issues in line with BUPA’s slogan “BUPA Cares”.

BUPA is a global health and care organisation with eight million members in 192 offices worldwide and has been exclusively represented in Malta since the early 1970s by BUPA Agencies. BUPA Agencies is authorised to act as an insurance agent and is regulated the Malta Financial Services Authority.

Prof. Albert Fenech – a leading consultant cardiologist and associate professor of medicine – delivered a highly interesting talk entitled A Matter of the Heart to a well-attended audience of BUPA clients.

The talk, which was also attended by BUPA International Director of Operations John Stubbington and Head of Operational Development Paul Tidy, covered the way heart treatment has developed over the years and provided excellent examples of the way treatments such as an angioplasty and coronary artery bypass are performed.

Prof. Fenech also looked at the causes of heart disease and provided advice on reducing this risk.

In conjunction with this talk, The Global Group also hosted an art exhibition by prominent artist Isabelle Borg. Art critic and historian Dennis Vella was present at the event and introduced Ms Borg and her works to the audience.
