The Chamber of Engineers will be holding its annual engineering conference, entitled Engineering : Clean & Green, on 14 April.

This full day conference will demonstrate how engineers today are rising to the challenge of technological sustainability, environmental protection and the use of alternative energy.

A number of prominent local and foreign speakers have been invited to share their thoughts and findings on the different environment-related technologies that exist today.

The conference will be officially opened by Environment Minister George Pullicino, and will also feature a keynote speech by Sir Martin Laing, president of John Laing plc of the UK.

Commenting at the launch of the Annual Engineering Conference, Chamber of Engineers president Alexander Tranter said: “Our conference this year will focus on one of the most talked about and debated subjects at the moment, the environment and how engineers are making a significant impact on creating clearer and greener technologies.

“We will be discussing some very important local issues such as the rehabilitation of Maghtab, waste to energy, the Sant’ Antnin recycling plant, bio-diesel and wind energy, among others.”

Anyone who is interested in attending the conference can register on line at the chamber’s website www.coe.org.mt or by calling the chamber’s office on 2133-4858.
