Malta Independent Wednesday, 30 March 2005, 00:00 Last update: about 14 years ago

The 13 companies taking part in this year’s HSBC Young Enterprise Company of the Year Programme are busy this week preparing for the HSBC Young Enterprise National Trade Fair.

This year’s fair begins tomorrow and will run until 2 April at St James Cavalier in Valletta. Visitors will be able to choose from a range of products and services, including iron wine racks, moisture testers, clothing, storage facilities, web development, candles, seatbelt covers, chocolate balls, utility boxes, fish bowls and thermal pillows.

“This weekend is one of the most important events in the calender of the HSBC Young Enterprise Company Programme. The National Trade Fair gives all the students taking part the opportunity to test their products on the market and try and make as many sales as possible.

“This year’s fair is being held in the historic setting of St James Cavalier, giving visitors a great opportunity to buy some fantastic products while at the same time enjoying of Valletta’s

historical jewels,” said Young Enterprise Malta CEO Rachelle Tabone.

The HSBC Young Enterprise National Trade Fair is the last major event in the Young Enterprise calendar, prior to the national finals which will be held at the Mediterranean Conference Centre in the summer. This year, teams from Junior College, St Edward’s College, St Aloysius College, Giovanni Curmi Higher Secondary school, Verdala International School, De La Salle College and MCAST are taking part.

“This is the most exciting and also the most demanding part of the Young Enterprise programme, as students wait to see how their products will be received by the general public.

As in previous years, students taking part in the HSBC Young Enterprise Programme have shown a great deal of initiative and creativity in their product ideas and I am certain that this weekend will be a great success,” said Young Enterprise Malta chairman Josef Camilleri.

The HSBC Young Enterprise National Trade Fair will be open to the public on Thursday, 31 March from 10am until 4pm and on Friday, 1 and Saturday, 2 April from 9am to 7pm.
