Illegal Entry into Malta lands man in prison for over two years

Malta Independent Wednesday, 30 March 2005, 00:00 Last update: about 12 years ago

A Jordanian man was sent to prison for two years and six months yesterday, for coming back to Malta in December 2004 after he had been deported.

Najih Rebih Sadat Kanan, 29, was sentenced to six months in jail for his illegal entry into Malta. Because he was also guilty of committing a crime during the operative period of a suspended two-year sentence, this previous judgement came into effect, resulting in a total jail term of two years and six months.

Magistrate Anthony Vella presided over the court while inspectors Dennis Mula and Therese Sciberras prosecuted.
