Bank of Valletta is supporting two voluntary, non governmental organisations based in Gozo, thus acknowledging the most valuable role these perform within the Gozitan community. Jack Thewma, manager of BOV’s Gozo Branch, presented donations during separate visits to the respective foundations’ premises.
Mr Thewma was accompanied by a number of Gozitan BOV employees who had the opportunity to experience the most valid work these NGOs perform among those who are most in need within society.
The donations were presented to Fr Emanuel Cordina and Fr Manuel Curmi, Director General of Oasi and Director of Arka Foundations respectively.
Oasi Foundation aims at helping people avoid drug and alcohol abuse by way of preventive education, immediate intervention as well as treatment and rehabilitation of persons who already suffer from these addictions. The Arka Foundation, on the other hand, promotes the welfare of people with special needs and also seeks to support their respective families.
Addressing representatives from both foundations, Mr Thewma emphasised BOV’s resolve to play an active role within the Gozitan society, not only by providing financial services in support of its customers but also, in a wider context, by supporting social development within the communities in which it operates.
“Bank of Valletta understands the particular requirements that Gozo has due to its unique characteristics. In this regard, we are delighted to take a proactive role in supporting the social well-being of Gozo, thus acting as a responsible business operator that is close to the communities in which it operates. We are confident that our donations will act as a catalyst in encouraging these two Foundations to continue with their most valid work,” concluded Mr Thewma.
