Gilbert Martin scored a double for Marsa, as the Redblues obtaines three valuable points against bottom placed Gozo FC. The win lifts Marsa to safer waters and leaves wooden spoonists Gozo FC in a desperate situation. It was surely a welcome return to winning form for Marsa whose last win goes back to October when they beat Gozo in the frist round.

The match was interesting only in the second fourty five minutes following the Gozitans' lead. Marsa however had a quick reaction to score two goals in the space of ten minutes to stop an eight match winless streak

Marsa started the match on a high but their chances were rare apart from two shots from Gilbert Martin that missed the target. The Gozitans played well in midfield and in defence and the match resulted in a drab affair.

On 37 minutes Casha passed to Martin whose shot was partially saved by Agius and from the rebound the same Casha shot slightly wide. Two minutes later Gozo had their first attempt at goal with a Camilleri header following an Oliveira freekick.

On the other end Joseph Casha headed slightly wide following a well taken freekick by Buttigieg. Just before the break Oliveira's freekick went slightly over the bar.

The second half was played at a faster pace and the Gozitans went surprisingly in the lead after six minutes with a perfectly executed move between Elton Vella and Jason Portelli, with the latter passing to Johnny Camilleri who slotted home.

Marsa had an immediate reaction and obtained the equaliser two minutes later when Gilbert Martin received a long ball from Casha and beat Agius with a hard drive. Marsa were now playing better and Agius in the Gozo goal saved a good shot by Casha. On 63 minutes Marsa went ahead when Martin was floored by Ryan Buttigieg and from the penalty spot the same Martin made no mistake.

Marsa easily controlled their opponents for the rest of the match with the Gositans going near only in the dying minutes when Tramboo failed to capitalise on a Marsa defensive blunder.
