Mosta and St George’s produced some very good stuff in an entertaining scorless spectacle, that left both sides bitterly disappointed by the points lost.
In fact both teams needed desperately the three points at stake to keep on course for a promotion berth.
Both sides had their good moments and their scoring opportunities, but the Saints deserved something better especially in the second half.
The Saints were organised in midfield with Darmanin and Brincat above the rest. Up front Ewurun was dangerous with his runs and kept the Mosta defence on the edge. Darmanin tested Farrugia with a dangerous freekick and Camilleri tested Gatt from the edge of the area for Mosta.
On 29 minutes St. george's were unlucky when a Delia freekick hit the crossbar. On the other end Agius, went through on the left and passed t Falzon who shot slightly wide.
Mosta were now playing better and Andrea Gatt saved the day for his side when he saved a point blank shot from Asciak following another Brian Agius cross. Minutes later Dyson Falzon completely unmarked failed to dribble past Gatt.
The second half was more interesting with many goalmouth actions.
Mosta started on a better note and Dyson Falzon had a good run but his shot was again saved by an excellent Andre Gatt in goal.
On 60 minutesRodrick Asciak headed slightly over the bar a perfect freekick by Dyson Falzon.
The Saints took command of the game after this scoring opportunity by Mosta. They regained control of midfield and pushed back Mosta in their penalty area.
Ewurun had a very good run finished off with a dangerous shot that hit the side netting.
On 64 minutes Keith darmann crossed to the unmarked Thomas who shot well over the bar. Five minutes later St. george’s went very close but Mosta goalkeeper Matthew Farrugia brought the house down with a spectacular save from on a close range shot by Keith darmanin and from the rebound he again blocked Degabriele’s effort.
On 78 minutes Farrugia was again on hand to block another Saints’ attempt following a corner by Darmanin.
In the dying minutes St George’s were unlucky when substitute Nazzareno Abela hit the post, but the last chance of the match came Mosta’s way when substitute Chibueze was denied by Gatt’s last save of the match.
