I am not implying that it should be a Roll-Royce, a Lincoln, a Buick, a BMW, a Mercedes or a Porsche! Neither as classy as a Ferrari type-of-thing. Neither should it be, a sort of a Mini Cooper. However whatever name you wish to give it, it should be comfortable!

Guessed what I am talking about? Of course, the Maltese bus, or rather, a Gozitan bus!

It is very unfortunate to say that in these three years that I have been living in Gozo I never succeeded in taking a ride on these buses. I am not saying this with disrespect; rather I am saying this with a pinch of sadness knowing that Malta can be a Switzerland in the Mediterranean when it is not, yet!

The reasons for saying this vary but on top of the list I will put the scarcity in the frequency of the buses that work to certain routes. After this reason I cite the uncomfortable buses that are in use and which seem to be those which were used in the post-world war era!

Is there a difference between snail mail and electronic mail. I guess there is! This is how I rate public transport in Gozo!

Maybe the local authorities will, one day, take notice and provide us with safe, air-conditioned, odourless transport and an updated paying system – at least to provide a decent transport system especially in the scorching Maltese summer sun.
