Valletta United (3)

They say that only lawyers can change black into white. The Valletta mayor tried his utmost to put this phrase into practice (TMID 8 April).

For a number of years now I have taken part in this procession with total devotion, praying as is expected of one who attends such an occasion.

My mobile has always been switched off for an event such as this; I have never had chewing gum, which is vulgarity itself even at social events, and as for my attire, I have never read a rule book inviting people to wear mourning attire during such processions. As for kissing and shaking hands, at least I did this in silence without making a spectacle of myself moving to and fro, talking – yes talking – to fellow councillors and laughing as if they saw “is-Sur Gawdenz” making a fool of himself in public.

What is so very immature about the Valletta PN councillors and mayor is that they act so chummy, chummy during council meetings but do their utmost to ignore the “other sides” on social occasions and catholic events.

Adding insult to injury, this time the Valletta mayor and other councillors did all this precisely at a serious event, having the gall to talk non-stop every time we came to a halt. Talk about the pot calling the kettle black!
