I refer to the article entitled Government property lease arrears reach Lm4.1m (TMID, 21 April).

Your readers may wish to note that:

• Mr Albert Mamo is the Director of the Land Department while architect John Sciberras is the Director General of the Government Property Division which incorporates the Land Department, the Estate Management Department and the Joint Office.

• The Lm4.1 million owed at the end of 2004 include (and not exclude as mistakenly reported in your newspaper), the Lm2 million circa owed by commercial entities as well as the Lm1.75 million circa owed by para-statal organisations. These organisations are not Malta Enterprise or IPS.

• The monitoring of the use of government properties is carried out by two enforcement officers and not the same two employees who tackle the arrears mentioned in the paragraph before.

• The policy that will be drawn up by July will spell out and formalise the steps to be taken leading to eviction of tenants who are rent defaulters.
