The Malta Table Tennis Association will be participating at the Volkswagen 48th World Table Tennis Championships to be held in Shanghai, China, between next Friday and 7 May.

It is to be noted that the International Table Tennis Federation has decided to organise separate tournaments for singles and teams events. This year in China there will be no teams events but only individual and doubles events.

The Maltese contingent will be composed of the following players Simon Gerada, Mario Genovese and Edward Baldacchino.

The President of the MTTA will also accompany the group and will attend the Annual General Meeting of the ITTF together with other interesting seminars which will be held during the championships.

It is to be noted that these championships will be amply televised by the popular sports channel Eurosport. Information with exact dates and time will be found on the association's web site www.mtta.net.

The association's main sponsors Joola, the world renowned supplier of table tennis equipment, has provided the national team's kit and Gensan, a leader in supplements for sport, is also supporting the Maltese players.
