The Power of nature

Malta Independent Saturday, 30 April 2005, 00:00 Last update: about 20 years ago

From the beginning of time, man has turned to nature to connect with the spiritual world and to seek answers of life itself.

Today, man is destroying nature and that is why a sensation of dullness is being felt all through out the world. We are killing nature by our egoistic needs. No wonder why nature is rebelling to us.

Greediness and self-centeredness is making our lives so artificial and so empty. We have become so unappreciative and we are always thirsty for more since materialistic belongings are only temporary ecstasies.

Once the effect is gone they leave us dehydrated and more frustrated. It's just like a drug. We are turning ourselves into junkies. In doing so, we are not only destroying ourselves but also the world we live in and nature can't take it no more.

We need to connect more with nature because it gives us a lot of positive energy and an inner feeling of peace. Try this exercise.

Whenever you're feeling down, go near nature. Let your thoughts flow with the waves if you are near the sea or let them flow with the dancing leaves if you're near the trees. Inhale the fresh air and just relax. It can be a very effective healer for it helps you get rid of all the negative energy within you.

The three most powerful poisons are: lust, anger and ignorance. We can only destroy them by investing in love. Love is the way we keep our vibration up.

Once we let our energy get too low, our body suffers from stress and other mental and physical diseases. Love is the dynamic of the opposites. You have to embrace your negative side along with your positive side. We have to acknowledge the two energies within.

Good can be known only by confronting its opposite, which is evil. So let's confront the evil and stop destructing the world.

Let the trees envelop us with their beautiful fresh leaves and perfume us wit their fresh odour. Let them colour the world and our hearts. Let us respect nature if we want to be respected by her.

Charles Mifsud has decided to contribute with a wonderful poem he wrote for this special event:

In Memory of a Leaf...

A reddish leaf whirls helplessly in endless loops….

In pursuit of bygone memories in a swirl of the wind…..

Memories awakened by a caress of yesterday's breeze….

A stir from the breath of youth…

A gentle touch and a cosy cuddle of a loving mother tree ….

A leap of joy in an evergreen family…

And as memories succumb to the destiny of time…

A solitary leaf twists and curls in agony….

A silent utter transcending from a past….

Lost in a wail of the wind…

For will her tree survive a winter

And the slaughter of man…

For a reddish leaf roams restlessly ….

In search of the spirit of the trees …life's ultimate poem.
