Former Arizona legislator and ambassador to Malta John Pritzlaff has died. He was 84.
Pritzlaff moved to Arizona in 1958 and was involved in real estate and insurance.
A World War II veteran, he was first elected to the Arizona House in 1960 and served four terms.
In 1969, President Nixon appointed the Republican as an ambassador.
Pritzlaff returned to the Arizona Capitol in 1974 to fill the Senate seat left vacant by Sandra Day O’Connor when she was appointed to the state Appellate Court.
Pritzlaff is survived by his wife, Mary Dell Pritzlaff, four children and 12 grandchildren.
His daughter Ann is married to former Arizona Governor Fife Symington.
