A remarkable second half comeback by St Patrick enabled them to win their last Premier League match against Msida, bowing out in an honourable fashion.

Msida, missing some regulars, used this meaningless match as a warm-up for their forthcoming FA Trophy semi-final tie against Marsaxlokk.

Although both teams' fate had already been sealed, it was a highly entertaining match with plenty of goals and many scoring opportunities.

Msida broke the deadlock as early as the 7th minute when Daniel Nwoke finished off Cachia's cross from the left.

But earlier St Patrick missed the match's first opportunity when Fleri Soler put Caruana through but was foiled by a full-stretched keeper Borg who deflected his low shot.

The Saints kept up their persistent, albeit inaccurate, search for an equaliser, looking menacing on dead balls. Chizoba Anizoba headed a Caruana corner kick narrowly wide and the latter's rising shot on 37 minutes was tipped into a corner by the Msida keeper.

Msida could have even doubled the score midway through the half when Cassar's clearance on Nwoke's effort fell into Bajada's path who, however, shot diagonally wide.

St Patrick drew level three minutes into the second half after Micallef floored Anizoba Chizoba inside the Msida area and substitute Mark Tanti tucked away the penalty.

But on 55 minutes Msida restored their lead. Cachia again played a long ball forward, chased by Daniel Nwoke who outpaced Fleri Soler to beat keeper Azzopardi with a powerful shot.

But St Patrick were very much still in the game when by the hour Borg had to block at Dozie's feet on Zerafa's cross and was injured in the process. On 64 minutes a Tanti corner from the left was headed in by Chizoba Anizoba. Two minutes later Msida's keeper Borg limped off the pitch and St Patrick immediately capitalised with two goals within eight minutes.

Thomas Caruana raced in through the middle on Abdilla's pass to beat the onrushing reserve keeper Psaila and after Caruana clipped his shot against the woodwork, Chima Dozie struck in St Patrick's fourth on 78 minutes.

Two minutes from time, the same player raced in from the right. His low drive beat Psaila but rebounded off the foot of the post to save Msida from further derision.
