Sony was the winner of the first race of the Portomaso Powerboat P1 Grand Prix of Malta yesterday.

The event had to start at 3pm, but the organisers delayed it by two hours in the hope that the strong wind would die down somehow.

It was not to be but at 5pm, the race started and it was evident that the participants were very cautious in the dangerous conditions prevailing.

It was Sony who finished on top in the Evoluton Class followed by Fainplast in second and Thuraya in a susprise third place.

In the Supersport class, the Maltese duo of Chaudron, Aaron and Audrienne finished fifth, behind Offshore Performance, Jolly Drive, Datch and OBA OBA Racing.
