A couple yesterday filed a constitutional application claiming that an eviction order issued by the Commissioner of Lands breached their fundamental human rights.
Charles and Helen Camenzuli said the Commissioner’s order for them to evict their home, which is owned by the government, breached their human rights. Moreover, in their application, signed by Dr Joe Brincat, the couple claimed that chapter 228 of the Law of Malta was also in breach of the European Convention of Human Rights. They said the order was issued without them being offered alternative accommodation.
The couple called on the Constitutional Court to rule that the commissioner’s eviction orders is in breach of the European Convention.
