A total of 3,694 persons left the public service from 2000 till this year, the Prime Minister said.
1,420 were declared unfit for work by a medical board, 45 were sacked and 2,229 resigned.
No less than 881 resigned in 2000 but these included a number of workers who took up employment with Maltapost.
The year in which most left the public service was 2000 when 979 left. The leanest year in this regard was last year when only 460 left.
