In its efforts to contribute to the promotion of Malta’s culturally rich background, particularly with incoming tourists, Malta International Airport has marked the first year of its publication GRIP The MIA Magazine. GRIP is distributed to incoming tourists and is also available throughout the terminal.
Minister for Tourism and Culture Francis Zammit Dimech met a delegation from MIA, which included Rosette Fenech, head of Communications, and Simon Sultana, assistant manager, together with Pierre Portelli, managing director of Watermelon Media & Communications; publishers of GRIP. Also present was Leonard Zammit Munroe from the Malta Tourism Authority.
Dr Zammit Dimech was presented with the first eight issues of the magazine. Mr Portelli updated the Minister on the latest developments concerning GRIP, which is now also available in all the rooms of leading hotels in Malta.
As of this month, GRIP is also the In-Flight magazine for BritishJET.com , the new airline that commenced operations to and from the UK this month. The magazine is in constant demand by incoming tourists. It is estimated that more than a million passengers read GRIP in its first year of publication. This adds to the contribution MIA is giving to the tourist product, an investment which adds value to MIA’s core business as well as other initiatives such as, the Cruise and Fly project et al, Ms Fenech said.
Sections in GRIP feature articles about Maltese society, its traditions, and origins. It also focuses on remote villages in Malta and Gozo that are not usually promoted in tourist brochures, events taking place during the month of publication, the gastronomy of our island and the places where to dine and wine.
