Competition gets under way today with the Maltese athletes being involved in the following programme:

Athletics: From 4pm onwards: Pole vault (final), 100m heats Charlene Attard, Therese, Darren Gilford and Raschid Chouhal, Discus (final), 400m heats, 800m finals (men and women) Lisa, Mark Herrera, Triple Jump (final), 5,000m final Carol Galea, Lisa Bezzina, shot put final, 10,000m final.

Basketball: (women) 2.30pm Luxembourg-Malta.

Cycling: 11am Individual time trial Jack Schiavone, David Treacy.

Judo: 3-6pm Preliminaries (Up to 60kg, 66kg, 73kg, 81kg, 90kg, 100kg) 6.30pm-9pm finals.

Swimming: 10am-noon: heats; From 5pm 200m backstroke finals; 200m butterfly finals, 100m freestyle finals and 200m medley finals.

Table-Tennis: From 9am First, second and third rounds Men Group A and B and Women first and second rounds.

Shooting: From 10am, Qualifications in Trap competition, Frans Pace, Joe Attard.
