Malta finally broke the swimming gold medal duck as Angela Galea picked up her first GSSE gold medal, winning the 200m butterfly in Andorra yesterday.
Galea, 21, came home in 2:21.79, beating her opponent from San Marino by 0.96 of a second to give Malta the first ever gold medal in the discipline.
At the end of the ceremony, Angela Galea confessed that she was in the right state of mind, and good form.
“Before the race, I thought that today was the perfect opportunity tobreak the duck. The day will remain special not only for me but also for the country, since this victory gave Malta its first gold medal of these games”, she ended.
