An excellent Frans Pace was back in top form yesterday as the trap competition got under way at the La Rabassa Shooting Range.

Pace had excellent rounds of 25, 24 and 24 and is occupying joint second place with veteran Armand Dousemont of Luxembourg and Phidias Savvides of Cyprus.

Leading the pack is the experienced Francesco Amici of San Marino who is one target ahead of the second placed trio. He had rounds of 25, 25, and 24.

There were six strikes in all. These were obtained by Alfio tomassini of San Marino, Phidias Savvides of Cyprus, Francesco Amici (two), Yiannis Ailottis (Cyprus), Frans Pace of Malta and Armand Dousemont of Luxembourg.

The competition continues today with the final round, following which there will be the barrage where only the top six will compete.

Malta’s other shooter, Joe Attard, had rounds of 23, 22 and 24 and is occupying joint eighth place on 69 hits.
